Lori Triolo

Actor, Guest Instructor

Lori Triolo is a multi-talented professional with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Her impressive career includes work as an actor, director, producer, coach, and mentor for both stage and screen. Born and raised in New York, Lori established The Belmont Italian American Playhouse, which showcased plays written and performed by underrepresented artists from diverse backgrounds. Robert Deniro, Talia Shire and Kenneth Branagh were among the board of directors. She also offered an affordable venue for local performing artists in Vancouver, creating the Evolving Arts Collective. As the Artistic Director Lori was able to support the development of the artistic community.


Lori is a certified teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®. A long-time teacher of The Meisner Technique, she was trained by Sanford Meisner and was granted permission to teach after graduating from The Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC. She has taught in her private studio, conservatories, and university programs across North America. As the Canadian Representative for The Neighborhood Playhouse for 15 years, Lori was honored to have interviewed potential students for admission to Sanford Meisner's prestigious conservatory program. Lori is currently on the faculty for the full time conservatory program at The Neighborhood Playhouse bringing Fitzmaurice Voicework® to the school for the first time.


In addition to her professional work, Lori has created The Art of Awareness, a holistic approach to helping clients achieve deeper connections to themselves, their artistry, and authentic communication. She shares this work through her private classes, workshops, seminars, with scientists and CEO’s, as well as the Women in the Director's Chair program, which she has proudly supported for thirteen consecutive years.


For nearly 20 years, Lori produced The Cold Reading Series, which brought together the local stage, film, TV, web, and music scenes to share their work, connect, and create more. Lori's impressive list of theatre productions includes critically acclaimed works such as Reborning, The Motherfucker with the Hat (Jessie nomination), Bug (Jessie nomination), Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, The Sweetest Swing in Baseball (Jessie nomination), Twelfth Night, Italian American Reconciliation, Where’s My Money, and Miss Julie. She has also appeared in several lead TV and film roles, including Balestra, Riverdale, Blackstone, Fringe, Supernatural, and Smallville. Some of her most memorable roles were sharing the screen with Katherine Hepburn, Anthony Quinn, John Hurt, Lynn Redgrave, and her mentor Brian Dennehey with whom she worked multiple times. Most recently Lori’s long-time inspiration, John Patrick Shanley, invited her to workshop his latest full length play to open the season at The Actors Studio in NYC. A lifelong dream realized.


Lori has been recognized for her work as a former Board member of Women in Film, receiving the Leadership in Education Award, which acknowledges excellence in the teaching of screen-based media. With her wealth of experience and expertise, Lori continues to inspire and mentor actors and performers across North America.
