Laura Adkin

Laura Adkin is an award winning Filmmaker who began her career in film & TV more than 2 decades ago. She started as an actor appearing in a number of TV series, MOWs and features. But she was always interested in other aspects of the industry. While creating content for herself as an actor, Laura discovered her love for filmmaking and never looked back. She received a BravoFact for her first short “The Goodnight Kiss” and was selected for WIDC: Story & Leadership for her first feature “Re: Uniting” which premiered at the Austin Film Festival and released theatrically in March 2024 where is was held over for 2 weeks in Toronto and 4 weeks in Vancouver. It received 12 Leo Award Nominations and won 6 included Best Director, Best Screenwriting and Best Motion Picture. Other accolades include, being handpicked for a female directors initiative through Disney, pitching for the MPPIA short film award, being a competition finalist at the Austin Film Festival with both her short films (and a quarter finalist with two of her scripts) and being chosen for Telus Storyhive’s Career Accelerator. She currently has a feature in development with Canadian author Catherine McKenzie.
